The IRPM is the leading professional body for residential property management, designations awarded from our qualification framework, validates and provides certain assurance on the competencies of all employees who have completed any one of the IRPM courses and qualifications.
All of our courses and qualifications are split out into Leasehold, Build to Rent and Scotland specific.
The usual route to the full IRPM qualification is to join as an Affiliate and move through the three related membership levels - Affiliate, Associate (AIRPM), Member (MIRPM). If you already have other qualifications, you may be able to join at Associate or Member level - please see the explanation of membership levels for further information.
The Leasehold Foundation course and exam is the first step and exam that can be taken after joining IRPM as an Affiliate. It is available to take online, at a time of your choosing, and consists of 100 multiple choice questions within a sixty minute time limit.
The Build to Rent Level 2 course and exam is the foundation exam for the BTR sector. It is available to take online, at a time of your choosing and consists of 50 multiple choice questions within a sixty minute time limit.
IRPM Affiliates have no post nominal letters.
The Associate qualification and exam is eligible to Affiliates who have a years' current experience in the sector and have already passed the Foundation Exam. On passing the Associate Exam, Affiliates are offered an upgrade to Associate. The Associate Exam is undertaken in a supervised setting, has a duration of one and a half hours and is based on your experience in the sector and on the content of the IRPM Foundation Course.
Current IRPM Associates may use the post nominal letters AIRPM.
The Member qualification and exam is eligible to Associates who have 3 years' current experience. On passing the Member Exam, Associates are offered an upgrade to Member.
The Build to Rent Level 4 qualification and exam is the an intensive qualification in Build to Rent and Private Rented Sector management - this builds on the IRPM 4 elements at a more intensive level, focussing on Technical, Health and Safety, Customer & Consumer and Ethics & Behaviours. This is an online self-study course available to all IRPM members.
Current IRPM Members may use the post nominal letters MIRPM.
