The usual route to the full IRPM qualification is to join as an Affiliate and move through the three related membership levels - Affiliate, Associate (AIRPM), Member (MIRPM). If you already have other qualifications, you may be able to join at Associate or Member level - please see the explanation of membership levels for further information.
There are three IRPM exams: the Foundation, Associate and Member exams.
The Foundation Exam is the first exam that can be taken after joining IRPM as an Affiliate. It is available to take online, at a time of your choosing, and consists of 100 multiple choice questions within a sixty minute time limit.
IRPM Affiliates have no post nominal letters.
The Associate Exam is eligible to Affiliates who have a years' current experience in the sector and have already passed the Foundation Exam. On passing the Associate Exam, Affiliates are offered an upgrade to Associate. The Associate Exam is undertaken in a supervised setting, has a duration of one and a halfl hours and is based on your experience in the sector and on the content of the IRPM Foundation Course (previously the RBEM open learning course).
Current IRPM Associates may use the post nominal letters AIRPM.
The Member Exam is eligible to Associates who have 3 years' current experience. On passing the Member Exam, Associates are offered an upgrade to Member.
Current IRPM Members may use the post nominal letters MIRPM.
Please note that you need to renew your subscription annually to continue to be eligible to use post nominal letters AIRPM, MIRPM or FIRPM.
